The ever-present trench coat is still in vogue this season. However, the cape is the queen of the fall outerwear. This is a very utilitarian piece of clothing and will come in a variety of colors this fall. Alison Deyette, a T.J.Maxx/Marshalls fashion and shopping expert, suggests mixing it up. "Experiment with patterned and textured ponchos, capes and ruanas, crafted of wide-stitched wool, look refined belted with jeggings and high boots." Agrees Jill Laine, a Fashion Stylist/Style Coach (www.JillLaineStyle.com): "Capes in a solid neutral such as camel, grey or black will make you look polished and modern over just a long sleeve cotton tee, paired with your favorite pencil pants or jeans."
